Arctic Ice at Third Lowest Level. By Justin Gillis, NYTimes, September 17, 2010. "This week the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Colorado issued a preliminary estimate of Arctic sea-ice volume for the year. The numbers will not become final until October, but the early calculation is that the summer minimum extent for Arctic sea ice hit its third-lowest level in the modern era, a bit above 2008 and somewhat above the record low of 2007."
