Chicagoans Plan for Helping Nature Adapt to a Warmer Climate. By William Mullen, Chicago Tribune, September 14, 2010. "Climate change isn't coming to the Chicago area, it is already here. That is the position taken by Chicago Wilderness, an alliance of 254 regional organizations that manage or conserve natural areas. Extending across all or part of 36 counties in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan, it includes huge forest preserve districts, park districts, wildlife sanctuaries, land trusts, universities and research institutions. Earlier this year it issued the Chicago Wilderness Climate Action Plan for Nature, an ambitious blueprint to guide area governments, corporations and conservation agencies in coping with coming environmental changes."
