Pelosi's Green 'Housekeeping' Would be in Jeopardy. By Erika Lovley, Politico, September 19, 2010. "Across the Capitol, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's imprint is everywhere: energy-efficient light bulbs, healthful, organic foods in cafeterias, aggressive recycling and, of course, a complete ban on smoking. But what kind of House-keeper would John Boehner be if he becomes speaker? Democrats and environmentalists fear that the Republican leader from Ohio, an avid smoker who has mocked Pelosi's workplace overhaul of the Capitol and dismissed greening initiatives, would either undo some of the policies or merely let them peter out... Boehner, who remains skeptical whether global warming is man-made, has long been at odds with several parts of Pelosi's environmental push, calling them 'a waste of money… I like real food -- food that I can pronounce the name of,' Boehner told media outlets after the House initiated a three-year dining contract with Restaurant Associates, which immediately began incorporating locally grown and organic foods like bok choy and jicama into the menus."
