Californian Community Colleges Trying to Gear-Up Training Programs for Wind Technicians. By Maria Dickerson, LATimes, March 1, 2009. "Wind farms are hiring and probably will be for years to come... California's community colleges are trying to get wind technicians into the workforce faster with the accelerated boot camp system... The goal is to have 50 schools around the state offering wind training within a few years... That could prove a tall order considering California's budget woes. Students are jumping at the few seats available now... Technicians must be hyper-vigilant in an occupation that combines dizzying heights, tight spaces, high-voltage electricity and spinning metal."
